Today, we are staying on campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, as our guest is the WU Vienna’s rector - Edeltraud Hanappi-Egger. Since 2015 she is the first female rector of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. Together, we discuss the role of universities in sustainabilty and responsibility issues as well as WU's efforts in becoming more responsible.

In this episode, we are happy to welcome two exciting guests who engage in climate activism. Giuseppe Delmestri is professor for Change Management and Management Development at WU Vienna, he co-founded Scientists for Future and is also active for Extinction Rebellion. Together with Daniel Gratzer from Fridays For Future Austria, he discusses the importance of grassroots movements for sustainable development. In addition, they discuss how climate and social movements can be organised and talk about their takes on what is needed for adequate climate action.

Our two wonderful guests Alpaslan and Richard will introduce us to their perspectives and opinions on sustainability in this episode. Alpaslan Deliloğlu is CEO and CSO of IKEA Austria and discusses together with Richard Auer-Welsbach, an organic farmer and forester. Both share their visions towards sustainable business practices, sustainable agriculture and responsibility.

In today’s episode we welcome Sigrid Stagl. She is professor and head of the Department of Socioeconomics and founder of the Institute of Ecological Economics at WU Vienna. Being the first person globally who completed a PhD program in Ecological Economics she will introduce us to the term sustainability from an academic standpoint today. Among others, she will touch on the topics: What do we mean when talking about sustainability and what is the current state of the art in research? This episode was recorded remotely.

In this episode, our guests are both social entrepreneurs in Austria. Theresa Imre founded the digital marketplace Markta and shares her experience scaling up a social business during the pandemic. She discusses the role of social entrepreneurs in shaping a new understanding of business as usual with Martin Wesian. Martin founded HELIOZ more than ten years ago, with the company’s activities revolving around the water disinfection tool WADI. Theresa and Martin both are members of SENA - the Social Entrepreneurship Network Austria.

For the next couple of episodes, Inside Impact is a podcast cooperation of the Social Entrepreneurship Centre, and the Competence Centre for Sustainability, Transformation and Responsibility at Vienna University of Economics and Business. With this episode, the series “Sustainability meets Social Entrepreneurship” takes off and we want to invite you to take a closer look at sustainable development and the SDGs together with our guests! Viola Christian is a Program Officer at the Ban Ki Moon Centre for Global Citizens and aims to create impactful opportunities for women and youth to thrive as global citizens. As our second guest, James Gunn joins us on behalf of SDGs Labs at WU Vienna targeting sustainability especially in the agribusiness and food production sector.

Over the next couple of episodes, Inside Impact is not only the podcast of the Social Entrepreneurship Centre, but also of the Competence Centre for Sustainability Transformation and Responsibility here at WU Vienna. Die attraktiv designten Trinkflaschen sollen KundInnen zu einem nachhaltigeren Lebensstil animieren, während durch die Verkäufe Spenden für Trinkwasserprojekte gesammelt werden. Gleichzeitig steht auch das Thema New Work im Mittelpunkt. Und während wir natürlich nicht mit Georg sprechen können, ohne die soulbottles zu erwähnen, sollen auch die Themen Holacracy und gewaltfreie Kommunikation nicht unerwähnt bleiben. Sophie Rendl beschäftigt sich seit Jahren mit Fragen der Chancengerechtigkeit. Sie hat die Expert*innenplattform Frauendomäne mitgegründet und war Vorstandsmitglied des Forum Alpbach Netzwerks. Für ihr Engagement ist sie auf die Forbes DACH 30 under 30 Liste gesetzt. Mit ungleichbesser hat sie ein Kollektiv für Diversität und Inklusion mitgegründet. Dabei will sie sie die Kräfte bestehender Einzelunternehmer*innen, KMUs und Vereine aus verschiedenen Sphären der Diversität verbinden.
